7 Famous Fictional Foods That Totally Made Us Hungry

You know that feeling when you’re reading and a certain passage comes along that makes your stomach rumble and your mouth water? You start thinking about what it would be like to eat a real Chocolate Frog while sitting on the Hogwarts Express or to munch on some goodies in Willy Wonka’s factory. Those moments are some of our favorites, and below we shared a list of a few literary delicacies that we always wished we could try!

“Eat Me” Cake from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Alice’s adventure features a number of delicious fictional foods. Our favorite delicacy has always been the “Eat Me” cake that Alice encounters, though we are rather hesitant about the fact that they cause the person eating them to grow tremendously in size. But they sound irresistible anyway!

Ambrosia from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series

This treat from the Percy Jackson book series has the incredible power of healing injuries while also tasting like the favorite food of the person eating it. This is not to be confused with the old school Southern delicacy that combines sour cream, oranges, and marshmallows. But hey, don’t knock it ’til you try it, I guess!

Butterbeer from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series

This is the #1 fictional drink we’re dying to try. Butterbeer is a classic butterscotch beverage from the Harry Potter book series that readers have been thirsting for ever since it was introduced. Yeah, we know the drink is actually available for purchase at Universal theme parks, but we want the real thing. Preferably while sitting with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Everlasting Gobstoppers from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

According to Roald Dahl’s book, these sucking candies will never shrink in size and will also change color and flavor every now and then. Now that’s something we want to try!

Lemon Cakes from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series

We’d like to taste every single food that George R. R. Martin describes in his book series (which was made into the hit HBO show Game of Thrones). Sansa’s favorite food is no exception. Technically there is nothing really “fictional” about lemon cakes, but we just assume they would taste better  while eating them in King’s Landing.

Turkish Delight from C. S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

This delicious treat covered in powdered sugar was given to Edmund Pevensie by the wicked White Witch during his first trip to Narnia, and from Lewis’s description it sounds utterly delectable. This is also technically a real dish, but it’s kind of jiggly and weird and not quite as delicious as the book makes it seem.

Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series

Just imagine: jelly beans of every flavor you can imagine. Any flavor. Hot chocolate? Sure! French toast? You bet! Granted you might run the risk of getting the occasional bad flavor, like grass, but overall the fun of trying these would certainly be worth the risk. Like the butterbeer from the same series, these beans have been brought to life in our world, too!
