Behind the Scenes: Creating the Book Trailer for Haunting the Deep by Adriana Mather

Creating a book trailer, especially a live-action one, is not always a walk in the park, and in this case, it’s a walk in the graveyard!

Adriana Mather, author of How to Hang a Witch, and her crew visited Salem, Massachusetts, and the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles to create the upcoming book trailer for her second YA novel—Haunting the Deep!

We took a trip to Massachusetts to get in on the behind-the-scenes action. While we didn’t meet any spirits, we did get a lot of fun pics. Hope you’re not afraid of ghosts, or a full moon, or a sinking ship. . . .

DAY ONE:

Sometimes you just gotta take a break and have a little fun before getting to business.

And there’s a lot of waiting around for the perfect shot. . . .

But there’s still time for a quick group photo.

Every once in a while, you take risks . . . like walking in the middle of the street.

We filmed all day, but the fun really started once the sun set.

There’s nothing like a graveyard at night!

We weren’t even scared by the full moon. (Okay, we were terrified.)

We had a little too much fun with the fog machine. Can you spot the ghost?

DAY TWO:

We interviewed Adriana, and she told us all about her family who survived the Titanic!

Our lead actress brought her advanced reader’s copy of Haunting the Deep  on set . . . and she’s soaked. (You’ll have to wait for the full trailer to see why!)

Adriana’s editor makes a cameo in the trailer, too!

And that’s a wrap, folks!
